The Khabarovsk protest will now have a new life, a new breath and a new development
Another 92nd protest rally against the dictatorship of Vladimir Putin and in support of popular local governor Sergei Furgal took place in Khabarovsk on Saturday 10 October, falsely accused of organizing the murder and brought to Moscow for trial.
Unlike previous actions, this one ended for the first time with violence from the authorities and a massive beating of the participants by riot police dispatched to Khabarovsk.
For the Khabarovsk demonstrations, which have been taking place since July, this event has become an important milestone that can determine the direction of the development of the protests. Either they will disappear or vice versa: something bigger will start.
The authorities, realizing the risks, previously avoided the use of force against the protesters in every possible way, fearing that the entire city would stand up to protect its people against the occupying forces. At the beginning of these rallies, Vladimir Putin said not to touch the protests until they pose some danger to the authorities.
He ordered to act as harshly as possible and, if necessary, even bleed the residents of Khabarovsk in two cases: if they try to occupy the local administration building and if they try to pitch tents in the central square.
Actually, on October 10, residents of Khabarovsk came to the local administration with tents. The local authorities were scared at first, as they understood what was going on, and then they called the riot police and sent them to the people.
Dozens of protesters were beaten and detained. Several were crushed in blood on their faces and heads. The youths, who were also captured, were later tortured by the police in their apartments.
In general, everything is in the best Russian traditions. Khabarovsk residents, who thought that the police in their city were normal and would not hit anyone, now had the opportunity to see how far they were from the truth.

At the same time, the coordinators of the local Alexei Navalny headquarters were arrested in Khabarovsk. The authorities fear that this headquarters will become the point of crystallization of the protests and lead people to assault the administration; it will become the same force that the Belarusians now lack.
As you know, the people of Minsk also regularly go out to protest against actions, but they have not achieved any particular success and do not have a plan of action.
It is true that in Khabarovsk, the Navalny headquarters also always avoided calling people to raid or pitch shops. (In my opinion, I avoided it to no avail).
To be honest, I don’t even know in what brilliant head the idea of taking tents to the administration and not leaving was born this time. But in the future, a monument to this person will probably be erected in Khabarovsk.
Be that as it may, now all the numerous local forums and chats are just smoking for messages, people are extremely unhappy with what happened.
To start with, the locals should get together and bring ten old tires to the administration. Set them on fire. It will be a great photo at night. After that, the local authorities are guaranteed to put them in your pants. Well, during the day, definitely come to the administration: in tens of thousands of people, do not be afraid, go in and take the building into your own hands.
Stores, by the way, don’t hurt either.
I have no doubt that in this situation Moscow will immediately negotiate the transfer of Furgal to Khabarovsk, or even his release.
Of course, I understand that this option is unlikely at this time. But in July, absolutely all political observers and analysts did not believe that a mass protest would start in Khabarovsk after Furgal’s arrest. And then they said that the Khabarovsk processions and rallies would quickly disappear and stop. But, as you can see, it is still happening!
The situation in Russia is very difficult, the economy is on the way, the West has arranged for Putin’s complete isolation, Navalny is about to return to Moscow, so the Kremlin does not need another source of tension.
In the interest of stability in the Far East, they will disconnect from Furgal. It is not a big problem for them to receive a real Maidan in Khabarovsk to send to prison.
Also, look at who is currently opposed to the residents of Khabarovsk. Sent by Putin, acting Governor Mikhail Degtyarev is almost the official lover of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who received the deputy seat in the state Duma for sexual services, and now also governor.
But the fact that he is gay does not characterize him in any way. Please, it’s the master’s business. The character of this person is determined by the whore who consciously chose her fate. In Moscow, no one even shakes hands.
In general, he will not be able to organize any serious resistance to the people. Strictly speaking, even the police despise him.
Summing up all of the above, I fully admit that the Khabarovsk protest will now receive a new life, a new breath and a new development.
You see, since last summer, life in Russia has not gotten better, but worse. The protesters’ slogans are not softer, but angrier. Therefore, I do not see any objective prerequisites for the termination of the actions of the residents of Khabarovsk. But in any case, no matter how the residents of Khabarovsk decide to react to the beating they receive today, I send you rays of support and solidarity.
