Yesterday, after a cabinet meeting, rumors emerged that the government had ordered private laboratories to test for coronavirus for free. However, this morning, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov denied it.
He stated this during a briefing on Saturday, October 10.
As explained by the minister, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers implies that the patient must go to a state clinic, which will take the material for analysis and transfer it to a private laboratory.
“We will contract through our laboratory centers the capacities of private laboratories in matters of analysis. That is, our mobile team or hospital that takes a sample, that is, a smear from a person, will transfer it to private laboratories, which will already perform tests on the appropriate laboratory equipment. “, – he said.
Stepanov clarified that this does not mean that private clinics will start testing everyone at the state’s expense.
“This does not mean that now a private laboratory will start doing these tests on people on the street. We simply will not be able to control this, because we will pay money to private laboratories,” said the minister.
