Iga Sviontek, 19, won Roland Garros

19 years old Iga Sviontek from Poland (No. 53 WTA) defeated 21-year-old American Sophia Kenin (No. 6 WTA) in the final of the French Open tennis championship.

Note that this is the first title for Sviontek in her career, previously she played only one final in the international WTA competition in Lugano. After winning Roland Garros, debuting in the top 20 of the WTA ranking, Kenin, thanks to reaching the final, will return to fourth place.

We add that for the first time a tennis player from Poland won the Grand Slam tournament.

En route to the trophy, Sviontek has not lost a single set in seven matches. The last time on the courts in Paris was possible for the Belgian Justine Henin in 2007.

For the first time since 2003, tennis players who were no more than 21 years old fought in the final at Roland Garros. Then, in the match between the Belgians, Justine Henin, 21, surpassed Kim Clijsters, 20.
