The final match in women’s singles took place at Roland Garros 2020: Polish tennis player Iga Schwentek and American Sofia Kenin fought for the title.

The 19-year-old Schwentek won a sensational victory: 6: 4, 6: 1. The final lasted 1 hour and 21 minutes.

Notably, the Polish tennis player has not lost a single set on her way to the title.

Schwentek became the third non-seeded Roland Garros champion after Britain’s Margaret Scriven (1933) and Latvian Elena Ostapenko (2017). She is also the youngest tournament winner in the last 28 years.

Additionally, Polka won its debut singles title. It will climb 37 places in the WTA rankings next week to become 17th in the world.

Roland Garros 2020: what you need to know

  • This is the third Grand Slam tournament in 2020 after the Australian Open and the US Open.
