The Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill from the Ministry of the Interior to change the procedure for issuing plates. Drivers are expected to have to independently choose where their car plates will be produced, the service centers of the Interior Ministry will only issue a registration certificate.
The corresponding decision was made during a government meeting on Friday, October 9.
Therefore, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergei Goncharov indicated that the bill proposes to transfer the production of plates for vehicles subject to state registration and plates for one-time trips to commercial entities.
At the moment, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of the Interior annually conducts a tendering procedure to request, manufacture and purchase registration plates for automobiles. After that, the purchased license plates are transferred to the regional service centers of the Ministry of the Interior, which, in turn, forward them to the territorial service centers of the Ministry of the Interior. According to Goncharov, such a procedure is too complicated and economically unprofitable.
“Previously, when registering a vehicle, a person received a registration certificate and a plate. Now he will only receive a certificate and will already order a plate in the place that has the right to produce it according to the state standard. Our initiative provides citizens the opportunity to choose combinations of plates at their own discretion, which are freely accessible, and not only those in the service center of the Ministry of the Interior. We hope that the parliamentarians will also support the bill and this will be a step more towards simplifying the process of providing public services, “said the Vice Minister of the Interior.
Under the bill, car owners will be able to search for free license plates at service centers through electronic lockers, reserve them, and order production from specialized companies. The latter can put any price, the main condition is that the registration corresponds to the model of the marginalized state.
That is, on the one hand, there will be no need to pay for the issuance of an unusual number, as is the case now, on the other hand, it will be necessary to order and pay for the production of numbers. Now trading companies offer this service for 450-500 hryvnia. But it is not clear how prices will change if budget figures disappear from the market.
We recall, recently in Ukraine they began to issue special “green numbers” for drivers of electric vehicles.
We also talked about how law enforcement officials want to fine owners of unusual 3D numbers.
