The Security Service of Ukraine has identified and eliminated a bug in the algorithm of the electronic computer system of the State Tax Service. Elimination of the error led to the elimination of the corruption scheme. This was stated by the head of the cybersecurity department of the SBU Ilya Vityuk.
Digitization is the only effective way to overcome corruption in Ukraine. This was announced on October 9 by the head of the cybersecurity department of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ilya Vitiuk, on the air of the program “Freedom of expression of Savik Shuster” on the channel “Ukraine”.
According to him, in the spring the SBU carried out an operation to end a large-scale corruption scheme.
“At the initiative of the SBU, together with the Tax Service and the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the algorithm of the electronic computer system of the State Tax Service was standardized. It was deliberately inaccurate, a mathematical and logical error in the operation of the system that it monitors all economic operations in the country. She sees if the operation is risky, then blocks it, “Vityuk said.
According to him, due to an error in the system, the program perceived an illegal transaction like the one a large taxpayer is committing The program did not block this operation.
“We identified this, and after the changes that took place in the tax service, we were given access, we were given the opportunity to quickly correct this algorithm, which led to the fact that since May, an additional 22 billion hryvnyas they have been transferred to the state budget. This is a great victory, this is 22 billion for medicine, for social projects ”, – said the head of the cybersecurity department.
