The National Bank stopped selling foreign currency to support the hryvnia exchange rate on the interbank market
At the same time, the National Bank did not buy foreign currency in the reporting period to replenish its international reserves.
During the week of October 5-9, the National Bank of Ukraine reduced the sale of foreign exchange on the interbank market six times compared to the previous week, to $ 8.7 million. This was reported on Friday, October 9 by the RBC-Ukraine news agency, citing data from NBU.
At the same time, the National Bank did not buy foreign currency in the reporting period to replenish its international reserves.
In total, since the beginning of the year, the NBU bought foreign currency in the interbank market for $ 4509.4 million and sold it for $ 3.583.1 million. The net purchase of foreign currency by the National Bank since the beginning of 2020 amounted to $ 926.30 million.
Recall that the National Bank of Ukraine from September 28 to October 2 reduced the sale of foreign exchange on the interbank market to support the exchange rate of the hryvnia more than three times compared to the previous week, to $ 51.1 million .
As previously reported, in September the balance of Banco Nacional’s interventions in the interbank exchange market was negative and amounted to $ 200 million.
