Ukraine will be able to supply more quota goods to Great Britain

The Ministry of Economy explained the essence of the trade agreement signed between Ukraine and Great Britain.

The agreement signed between Ukraine and the United Kingdom does not change the amount of traded goods, but expands the quotas. This was announced on Thursday, October 8 by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade, representative Taras Kachka on Facebook.

“Since the agreement is a continuity agreement, unfortunately, we have maintained the same logic for goods that are subject to partial liberalization. That is, the number of goods for which TRQs are in force has not changed. At the same time We are talking about a real increase in these tariff quotas. ” , – explained the commercial representative.

Kachka noted that the quotas themselves have been increased by 13-20%. For example, 136.2 thousand / ton of tariff quota for wheat, 100.02 thousand tons per year of corn, 12.04 thousand tons per year of poultry meat were additionally introduced.

At the same time, the terms of the agreement foresee its review in two years and the negotiations on the update will begin in the second year of the document’s validity.

We recall that today the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, signed an agreement on political cooperation, free trade and strategic partnership between the countries.
