Investigators discovered that in June 2014 a Lugansk resident joined illegal armed groups and was enrolled in the Zarya battalion as a scout. He gathered intelligence at the separatist observation posts.
“He was later transferred to Pervomaisk to the 15th Terrorist Battalion of the 2nd Army Corps of the People’s Militia of the LPR.” The investigation established that the mercenary put up armed resistance to the anti-terrorist operation / JFO forces near the demarcation line, participated in the fighting near Zolote.
The Rubezhansk City Court found the detainee guilty of committing crimes under the articles on the creation of paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law, as well as an invasion of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (part 2 of Article 260, Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The defense has the right to appeal the verdict on appeal within one month from the date of its announcement.
Previously, the court sentenced the commander of the “People’s Militia of the LPR” and a machine gunner who participated in the fighting to prison. They received eight years in prison.
It was also reported that the Donetsk region court sentenced the separatist “DPR” to 10 years in prison.
