The president of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, in an interview with the editor-in-chief of the Internet edition “GORDON”, Ales Batsman, said that he had not yet thought about whether he would run for president in the future.
The journalist recalled that in an interview with the founder of the publication “GORDON” Dmitry Gordon, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Bogdan, appointed four politicians who, in his opinion, could become the next president of Ukraine, including Razumkov.
“I was not expecting Andrei Iosifovich to put me on the list … Was it pleasant for me? It surprised me. It surprised me because we had different moments of relationship with Andrei,” Razumkov said.
Batsman noted that not only Bogdan, but also other politicians are talking about Razumkov’s possible victory in the presidential elections in the future, and clarified whether he could imagine that he would one day lead Ukraine.
“I never would have imagined that I would head the parliament. God’s ways are definitely inscrutable. Yes, this does not mean that you have to sit on the river bank and wait for it to come to you … Because you can never wait for anything. You have to go Do what you have to do and whatever happens. I’m sure this is an absolutely correct approach. It is desirable to get it right, but we will see how it will turn out. Two years ago, I had no idea that I would be the head of the Verkhovna Rada Yes, I walked slowly but surely down this political path, but I didn’t think it would go up that vertically. So I honestly think it’s premature to guess what will happen in three, four, five, nine years. – replied the Speaker of Parliament.
He said that today he is not preparing for the presidential election campaign.
“Today I am not preparing for the presidential campaign for sure. I have something to do here. The parliamentary campaign is also not planned in the near future. There is a lot of work to do inside the walls of parliament. There is no free time … For guess what will happen when – then after a long period of time, looking at the challenges I face as head of the Verkhovna Rada, and before the country, and before Ukrainian society, [сегодня не время]… We see the number of cases [COVID-19] every day, the difficult socio-economic situation of the country and other issues that require urgent action. The construction of such strategies and plans for the future can wait now. ” – considers the politician.
Batsman clarified whether he felt he could become a successful president if he decided to run.
“Any candidate for this position, walking, is sure that he will succeed there … Many factors influence this process, – Razumkov replied. – У You must have a plan, you must have a strategy, you must have a team, you must have specific goals and a clear understanding of how you will implement them. Because the objective can be drawn cosmic, but you don’t know how to do it ”.
