According to Navalny, Schroeder received secret payments from the President of the Russian Federation. However, the politician noted that he had no supporting documents about the payments.

Schroeder called Navalny’s statements false, noting that Bild released the information without asking for comment.

The former foreign minister said he will demand that other media publish excerpts from the interviews.

In September 2017, at the invitation of Rosneft’s director Igor Sechin, Schroeder headed the company’s board of directors. Later Sechin called Schroeder “the most loyal German leader” to Russia, writes RBC.
