The 71-year-old Panenka became world famous for his penalty shot in the 1976 UEFA European Championship final penalty shoot-out against the FRG team.

The footballer sent the ball with a “parachute” in the center of the goal and brought his team the gold medals of the continental championship. Since then, such execution of penalty kicks has been called “panenk”. In his club career, the midfielder played for Bohemians, Rapid, St. Pölten, Slovan, Hohenau and Kleinwiesendorf.

Note that the most famous penalty taker in the Panenka style is Artem Milevsky. The former Dynamo footballer scored like this in the 2006 World Cup round of 16 against Switzerland.
