The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine has appealed to the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Dmitry Razumkov, on the appeal of the People’s Deputy of the “Platform of the Opposition for Life” Ilya Kiva to help Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The embassy is outraged by the statement of the Ukrainian deputy.
This was stated in the message of the press service of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine, published on Facebook.
“Let me express our extreme outrage at the recent video message from MP Ilya Kiva on his Facebook page about the” war between Turkey and Armenia “with a call to Orthodox Christians” to join the millennial confrontation between the Christian and Muslim world and help Armenia in this matter, “he said in the message.
The embassy claims that such calls do not correspond to the spirit of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan and may cause outrage not only in Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also among the Ukrainian and global communities.
At the same time, Ilya Kiva in his comment to “Strana” confirmed his position on the conflict.
“I support the Armenians because I am a Christian. I studied well the history of the genocide of Christians in the person of the Armenian people, which at that time was committed by the Ottoman Empire (now it is Turkey), Christian churches were destroyed, sanctuaries desecrated, which are cultural and spiritual heritage. This is the genocide of Christians. Armenia is surrounded by the Muslim world, it is an island of Christianity, which is under the aggression of Muslim states. There is no politics here, there is my faith. This has nothing to do with Arsen Avakov, whom I consider my friend, and who is more restrained in his statements. This is due to my grandmother, who baptized me and instilled in me the love of God. By the way, I want to go to Armenia, but as I am part of the HLE team, I need to coordinate my position with the leadership of our party, ”Kiva said.
Let us remind you that Azerbaijan included Ukraine among the countries that supported it in the Karabakh conflict.
