For the first time in nearly 60 years, a new NAS leader was elected. Previously, this position was held by the late Boris Paton.
Anatoly Glebovich Zagorodny was elected president of the National Academy of Sciences. This was reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences on Wednesday, October 7.
“On October 7, 2020, the elections of the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were held. Academician Anatoly Glebovich Zagorodny was elected by secret ballot as president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” the statement said. .
At the same time, the Telegram channel Shadow on the Wattle writes that his candidacy was supported by 426 academics and corresponding members of the 637 who voted.
Note that Anatodiy Zagorodny is a theoretical physicist. Previously, he served as vice president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
