President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the European Union is fundamentally prepared to join the initiative on the format of the international platform of Crimea. He said this during a press conference in the framework of the 22nd Ukraine-EU summit, according to the press service of the head of state on Tuesday, October 6.

“I am glad that the European Union, in principle, is ready to join our initiative regarding the format of the Crimean Platform,” said the president.

According to him, the participants of the summit discussed in detail the habitual violations of human rights in Crimea and the participation of the EU in the protection of Crimeans suffering temporary occupation and political persecution on the peninsula.

“We are grateful to our partners for consistency and support. The recent decision on sanctions for the construction of a rail crossing through the Kerch Bridge proves this,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that the Crimean platform is designed to structure international efforts to vacate the peninsula, as well as to keep this issue among the priorities of international politics.
