The court arrested a policeman who, being drunk, caused a fatal accident in the city of Brovary, near Kiev. This was reported by the State Investigation Office on Tuesday, October 6.
“” The Goloseevsky District Court of Kiev has chosen a restraint measure for the alleged district police officer of the Desnyanskiy Police Department of the Kiev National Police Directorate, suspected of having committed a fatal accident in the city of Brovary. By court decision, the policeman was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of bail, says the message.
It is indicated that RRB investigators are investigating the circumstances of the fatal accident. The procedural direction of the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is under the responsibility of the Kiev Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In the case of proof of guilt, the perpetrator of an accident faces a penalty in the form of imprisonment of 3 to 8 years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to 3 years.
Recall, on October 4, a drunk police officer driving a Volkswagen Passat struck two women in Brovary in an unregulated crosswalk along Independence Boulevard. One of the victims died. The policeman was fired the same day.
