The pilots and cadets of the Kharkov University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who died in the crash of the An-26 plane near Chuguev, were posthumously awarded a medal for military service in Ukraine. The corresponding decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, his office reported on Tuesday, October 6.

The victims were awarded “for selfless service to the Ukrainian people and exemplary performance of military duty.”

As reported, in Kharkov on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, a farewell ceremony began with those killed in the An-26 plane crash. Zelensky is present at the ceremony.

We will recall, the military plane AN-26, on board of which there were 28 people (21 cadets of the Kharkov University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and seven officers), crashed in the Kharkov region. 22 passengers died, four disappeared, two people were saved.

Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced the creation of a state commission chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Urusky to quickly clarify the circumstances of the tragedy and provide all necessary assistance to the victims.
