There were different situations, but in a situation as difficult as the current one, the Ukrainian team met for the first time since 1994, when Bazilevich had a conflict with the Dynamo. For the first time since then, the coaching staff cannot count on a single player from the base club for the national team. For the first time in history, the national team has more legionaries than representatives of the Ukrainian championship.
If the previous experiments with the composition were a whim of a coach, today is a necessary step to save. Andriy Shevchenko must choose a clip that does not fall face down in front of the world champions. This is important given the team’s morale ahead of the Nations League fights against Germany and Spain.
So Andrei Lunin will finally wait at the door for his chance. He played a lot for the country’s main team, but now all doors are open. There is also a variant with Buschan, especially if one takes into account George’s departure in the duel with “Gent” (twelve saves). But the mistake made in the last UPL game with “Zorya” is disturbing.
In defense, there are problems with the centrals. Nominally, there are only three of them in the cage, two of which are debutants: Ilya Zabarniy and Evgeniy Cheberko. Andriy Shevchenko may act in the style of Mircea Lucescu: he uses the flank nominally Vitaly Mykolenko in the center of the defense. Igor Plastun doesn’t inspire confidence, given his game for Gent. There is more variety on the flanks: here are Alexander Karavaev, Bogdan Mikhailichenko, Eduard Sobol and newcomer Konoplya. We predict the appearance of the first two.
Andrey Yarmolenko will be the captain of this team and will try to lead it. Then, Viktor Tsygankov should play on the left flank of midfield, although at the club he usually plays on the right. There is still Alexander Zubkov with the wingers, to be used for the rotation.
In midfield, the positions of Ruslan Malinovsky and Sergei Sidorchuk seem unshakable in such a situation. The third will probably be Nikolai Shaparenko. At least compared to Shepelev, Makarenko, Bezus and Kharatinim, Nikolay seems more compelling both in terms of gameplay and in terms of morale. Although with the latter, everything is in order and the player of “Ferencvaros” Kharatin. Igor is the first candidate to strengthen the game from the bench.
There is no alternative to Roman Yaremchuk ahead, although Zubkov himself can be the forward. Shevchenko will also call Artem Kravets. But the main forward will remain “Genta”.
