A face-to-face meeting will be held shortly
The president of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, and the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, will meet with Zelensky.
At the Ukraine-EU summit, the parties will discuss a number of issues, including the war in Donbas and the crisis in Belarus. This was announced on Monday 5 October by a senior EU official in a briefing.
In addition, in a face-to-face meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, the leaders of the European Union and Ukraine will address issues of bilateral relations, the reforms of the Ukrainian state, the implementation of the Minsk agreements, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well like the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences.
“The leaders will discuss how to develop relations between Ukraine and the EU, including strengthening Ukraine’s political association, economic integration and sectoral cooperation with the European Union on the basis of an association agreement. <...> They will also discuss reforms in Ukraine, particularly in the areas of the rule of law and the judiciary, anti-corruption, health and greening the economy, “the EU official said.
Then the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, will arrive to meet with President Vladimir Zelensky. The presence of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, was also expected, but she went into self-isolation.
As reported, MEPs sent a tough letter to the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia. He said, in particular, that some members of the Servant of the People are coordinating attacks on independent institutions: NBU, NABU and SAP.
