The European Parliament threatens Ukrainian politicians with a selective cancellation of visa-free travel
MEPs warned their colleagues in the Verkhovna Rada about the consequences of the change in leadership of SAP and NABU.
Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada who seek the withdrawal of the National Bank and anti-corruption bodies from the control of foreign creditors of Ukraine may lose their right to free entry to the European Union. This is stated in the letter of the deputies of the European Parliament Viola von Cramon, Michael Galer and Rasa Juknevičienė, addressed to the head of the parliamentary faction Servant of the People David Arakhamia, extracts of which were published on Monday 5 October, European Truth .
“We cannot help but see that some members of the Servant of the People … are coordinating well-organized attacks against independent institutions such as the NBU, NABU and SAP. The same members do not shy away from being friends of oligarchs and ‘untouchables’ or publicly advocating breaking the ties with the EU “. , – say the Europoliticians.
All this, according to them, threatens Ukraine with the loss of the EU loan worth 1.2 billion euros. MEPs also clarified their position on the visa-free regime.
“As for the visa-free regime, this is in no way an intention on the part of the EU to cancel this great achievement for the citizens of Ukraine and the citizens of the EU. But we still reserve the right to introduce a specific denial of such freedoms for individual oligarchs, including politicians who abuse this right for the sake of their private illegal activities, “the letter says.
We will recall, earlier, the Ambassador of the European Union in Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, made it clear that the European Union is concerned about the possible withdrawal of anti-corruption organizations in Ukraine from the control of external creditors.
