The Department for the Protection of Public and State Interests has been working for two months. The National Police of Ukraine told him what he was doing.
This was announced in an interview with RBC-Ukraine by the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Igor Klimenko.
He said that each candidate was thoroughly checked, they all passed a polygraph and an examination by the internal security units.
“At the moment, this unit deals exclusively with issues of violation of electoral legislation,” he said.
After the elections, the department will deal, in particular, with the violation of journalists’ rights.
We recall that in Ukraine 8 criminal cases were opened per day due to violations of the electoral process.
Before that, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that Ukrainian law enforcement officers would react harshly to violations in local elections.
