Over the next week, a slight rise in the dollar is expected against the hryvnia. One dollar in the interbank market can be traded in a week for about 28.4 hryvnia, and one dollar in cash in banks can be traded for about 28.3 / 28.5 hryvnia.
Vadim Iosub, a senior analyst at Alpari, said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
As the analyst noted, during the past week, the dollar rate against the hryvnia rose 0.3%.
Thus, from Friday to Friday, the official exchange rate for the US dollar set by the National Bank of Ukraine increased from 28.25 UAH to 28.33 UAH (+ 0.3%).
The demand / supply of the dollar in the interbank market, according to the company “UkrDealing”, during the same time increased from 28.29 / 28.32 to 28.36 / 28.37 (+ 0.2%). Average rates of buying / selling dollars in cash at banks increased during the week from 28.17 / 28.36 to 28.26 / 28.44 (+ 0.3%). At the same time, the spread between the average sale and the average purchase decreased from 0.7% to 0.6%.
As RBC-Ukraine reported, the NBU sold $ 231.5 million on the interbank foreign exchange market in September 2020. At the same time, the central bank bought $ 34.0 million in one month. Therefore, the balance of NBU operations was negative again, minus $ 197.5 million.
Recall that the official exchange rate of the dollar against the hryvnia, which is set daily by the NBU, increased by 3% during September, from 27.4759 hryvnia per dollar on August 31 to 28.2989 hryvnia per dollar on 30 August.
