Doctors have discovered MIS-A inflammatory syndrome in adults who have recovered from Covid-19. Previously, it was only detected in children recovering from coronavirus disease.
This is reported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The syndrome is reported to have manifested as a serious complication of coronavirus disease in children and adolescents – they had problems with the cardiovascular system and stomach.
To date, 16 cases of MIS-A have been identified in patients in the United States and the United Kingdom, aged 21 to 50 years, ten of them were admitted to intensive care, two more died. All had complaints of arrhythmia and 12 patients had a temperature rise. At the same time, the symptoms of acute respiratory disease were felt only in 50% of cases.
Experts have not yet been able to find out if the inflammatory syndrome is part of the coronavirus disease or if it belongs to the post-infectious period. However, they noted that two to five weeks pass between the symptoms of the coronavirus and the manifestations of MIS-A.
Previously, we wrote that children who have contracted the coronavirus and are sick with Covid-19 can develop neurological symptoms associated with the central and peripheral nervous systems.
Additionally, “Strana” reported that some patients who survived the coronavirus continue to suffer from their symptoms for more than 100 days after receiving negative results.
