The fifth round of the Ukrainian championship has started in Dnipro. In his hometown, “Dnepr-1” hosted “Vorskla”, which went undefeated and before the kickoff he shared first place with Kiev “Dynamo”. Igor Jovichevich added pepper to the match. The leadership of the Dnipro team, the Croatian coach was called to save the team, which in three games could not lose just once. For a second, Poltava residents had ten times as many points (ten to one).
“There are positive developments, but there is still a lot of work ahead”
“Serhiy Buletsa is likely to start from the start. The young world champion deserves to be the main player of Dnipro-1”, – lines of our announcement, in which we express the hope that with the new coach, the young midfielder will often start at the start of Dnipro. However, to our surprise, he ended up on the bench. I wonder what Sergei needs to do to start showing up from the first minutes. Maybe score a last minute saving goal …
Jovichevich played his first home game as Dnipro-1 coach. A week ago, he was embarrassed in Alexandria and there was talk that the Croatian coach was not the level of ambition of the new club and that he definitely could not lead the Dnipro team to European competition. Okay, beating one of the leaders is an ideal opportunity to answer all of them at once.
For the full 90 minutes, Jovicevic was fully in play. The mentor constantly suggested something to his players, argued with the side referee, left the technical zone and even crossed the field line several times. This is called motivation. But not only this was remembered by the Croatian. It is already clear that he has begun to restructure into a new team. The footballers abandoned the primitive sheds in Dovbik, added speed and aggression. Of course, it is still far from ideal. But this is much better than the attempts of the Dnipro team in the games with Olimpik and Ingulets.
The activity and enthusiasm that drove the hosts throughout the game helped them get ahead. Kogut, having received the ball after throwing wide, gave an excellent pass to the far post, where Nazarenko had one thing to do: not miss. Nazarenko scores for the Dnipro team. No friends, this is not 2008. It is 2020, and this is another Nazarenko, Alexander, and another Dnipro.
However, if in attack the desire brought results, then in defense there was failure after failure; both failures will be included in the list of how not to do it. Separately, we will highlight Canet’s goal, who in the middle of the second half put Vorskla ahead. Jovicevic continued his experiment and put Lucas Taylor on the right flank of the defense. It did not fail, but was damaged, after which it was replaced by Swatok. Dnipro-1’s defense in general, and Oleksandr in particular, freaked out at 20-year-old Kane and just started to make way for him, allowing Ibrahim to burst into the penalty area and then take a direct kick. The Croatian coach had no choice but to wave his hands in frustration. He still has a lot of work to do.
“Sitting on defense and losing is the worst decision you can imagine.”
In the match announcement, we did not believe the bookmakers and called Vorskla the match favorite. Regardless, Maksimov’s team looked confident, but Lvov didn’t notice at the cup. However, they did not play the first part of the match. Not to say that “Dnepr-1” surpassed them in all respects, but it was going to defeat them. It’s just that today’s “Vorskla” was losing himself two weeks ago. Maksimov also understood this, who, trying to start his own team, managed to win a yellow card.
But such Poltava still managed to equalize the score in the lost first half. Although this is rather a reproach to the defense of the enemy. At first, they could not do anything with Perduta (today Igor simply tore the opponent’s right flank), and then they did not follow Kulach, who hit his head in the penalty area without any special obstacles. In exactly the same style, he sent a double against Lvov in the middle of this week. For fun, Vladislav is 177 cm tall.
COOL ‘ач !!!
We equalize!

The guests passed the second half much better than the first. Maximov definitely played his role here. We are sure that at first he exploited his charges during the break, and then he replaced the Child, whose existence the author even forgot a bit in the first part of the game. Stepanyuk’s absence hit the order very painfully. Apparently the Poltava striker is now injured, so he didn’t even go into the app. In four previous matches, he scored three times and, together with Kulach, caused many problems for the opponents’ defenders. And today he could not help the team in the creation.
However, having previously praised Maksimov, in this paragraph we will scold him. Indeed, at the end of the match, he stopped controlling the situation, so his team missed the victory. First, he gave the order to his players to play defense, after which they, like kittens, clung to their own penalty area and just waited for the whistle. A team that comes first and sets the goal of playing in a European competition shouldn’t do that. It was not Bayern Munich or Shakhtar who played against them today, but, with all due respect, the Dnipro-1 crisis.
Maksimov’s second mistake is that he did not control the situation with Canet. Thanks to his daring goal, Ibrahim could have received the “hero of the game” award from us, but before long he received two yellow cards and went to half-time. Even people who saw a soccer game for the first time today could notice that the 20-year-old footballer towards the end started to be silly and nervous out of nowhere. Yuri Maksimov needed to talk to the player, or better yet, replace him for sin. He didn’t do this, and the result was obvious: elimination. What happened after? The visiting defense was unable to face Buleta and the midfielder fired a shot from outside the area. Our opinion is that Ryznik could, but did not help. 2: 2 and the final whistle.
“Standard of housing and communal services fulfilled in excess”
We don’t get an additional dose of endorphins from the fact that we once again mentioned arbitrage, but today we will discuss Yuri Ivanov’s actions separately. The main referee decided to exceed the ZhKM rule (yellow cards per game), having written 12 cautions in total. Three players didn’t even live, figuratively, to the end of the game. And we still have questions. In our humble opinion, the second yellow card for Tsurikov and Sklyar is quite controversial, especially when it comes to the elimination of the Dnipro-1 player. On the other hand, some will say that by eliminating Sklyar, Ivanov simply rehabilitated himself in this way. Perhaps this is true, but in general, Yuri Vladimirovich sued not at the highest level.
After the end of the game the “Dnipro-1” players were very excited about the point they had scored. The wicked will remind you that they haven’t won at the UPL yet. Fans will tell you that today’s giveaway is the first step toward healing. And each side will be right.
“Vorskla” does not win for the second time in a row and the international break should play in their hands. However, today they missed the winning match themselves and Yuri Maksimov will definitely not catch warm words in the dressing room. 11 points after five games is good, but it could have been better.
