Anna Yakshtas, editor-in-chief of the local newspaper Strong News, was arrested in Gomel, Belarus. The security forces also detained her husband Denis, who also works for this media outlet.

This is reported by the independent Belarusian portal TUT.by.

First, the founder of the publication, Pyotr Kuznetsov, announced the arrest of Yakshtas’ spouses, and then this information was confirmed by the police in Homel.

“They took all the equipment and the boys were taken to the police department. There is no connection to them. The children stayed home. Witnesses who testified were brought with them. Denis’s mother said there were many different departments involved in this search, many protocols, “said Kuznetsov.

At the same time, Homel Police Press Secretary Vitaly Pristromov denied the searches at Yakshtas’ home, adding that “only computer equipment was confiscated.”

Let us remind you that yesterday the Belarusian regime deprived all foreign media working in the country. On Monday, the Belarusian authorities will start accepting new accreditation applications.

RBC-Ukraine also wrote that the Belarusian authorities deprived the independent portal TUT.by of the status of a media outlet. The publication described such actions by the regime as “clearing the field of information.”
