The President of Azerbaijan told the French that the responsibility for the events in Karabakh rests with Armenia.

French President Emmanuel Macron called Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, October 3, asking him to cease fire in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by Aliyev’s press service.

“The French president expressed his concern about the continuation of the fighting on the line of contact, called for the reestablishment of the ceasefire and the prompt holding of negotiations,” the statement said.

In turn, Aliyev noted that as a result of the artillery barrage from the Armenian side of the Azerbaijani settlements, 19 civilians were killed, more than 60 people were injured and hundreds of houses were destroyed.

It states that “Yerevan dealt a great blow to the negotiation process” and that “the responsibility for the armed confrontation rests entirely with the leadership of Armenia.”

Earlier, the presidents of France, the United States and the Russian Federation issued a statement calling for an end to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh and for the conflict to be resolved through negotiations.
