Local elections can only be postponed if a state of emergency is declared in Ukraine.

According to TSN, this was stated by Ukraine’s chief health doctor, Viktor Lyashko, during the round table “Local elections 2020 and COVID-19”.

“Elections can only be postponed when the state of emergency is introduced in the country. Otherwise, the elections will be held as prescribed in the electoral legislation and epidemic rules approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine,” he said.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, together with the Ministry of Health, have developed recommendations on conducting local elections under quarantine conditions.

According to Sergei Postivy, a member of the CEC, suffrage will not be limited even for citizens with signs of SARS and temperatures up to 37.3 degrees.

“In the recommendations for the Ministry of Health, we suggest that in such cases it is advisable to organize the work in the commission in such a way that the voting booth is separated in the same room, where people with such symptoms would vote. All areas of contact should be properly cleaned after each voter. ” – He noticed.

Fasting also said that people will be allowed to enter the polling stations in a controlled number and only if there are means of protection.

“There should be no more than three people at a table to cast the ballots,” emphasized the CEC member.

As for the distance, he noted that this issue is still being resolved.

Local elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 25.
