A strong wind carried a fire towards the village of Aleksandrovka, so they announced the evacuation of the population there.

Due to large-scale fires in the Lugansk region on Thursday night, October 1, the town of Aleksandrovka, Novoaydarsky district, is being evacuated. This was announced by the head of the Lugansk regional state administration, the head of the regional civil-military administration Sergey Gaidai on his Facebook page.

He noted that a strong wind was heading towards the village, in connection with which the head of the Novoaydarsk Regional State Administration announced the evacuation.

Police, ambulances and buses were dispatched to the town for evacuation.

“We will concentrate all our forces to recover Aleksandrovka. We hope that all the settlements will be located overnight, and tomorrow we will begin to extinguish the fires in the forests,” Gaidai added.

In addition, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that 120 people were evacuated in the Lugansk region. In particular, from the village of Muratovo – 35 people (accommodated in the village of Novoaydar in a school and hospital), Voronovo – 40 people, Sirotino – 25 people, Oskolonovka – 20 people (evacuated from three villages, located in Severodonetsk).

It was previously reported that the death toll in fires in the Lugansk region reached 11.

Also today, the fire spread to the Stanytsia Luganskaya checkpoint. The situation is complicated by strong gusts of wind.
