In Crimea, annexed by Russia, there are few clouds that can be used to increase precipitation.
The head of the Russian Center for Cloud Physics and Active Influences of the Central Aerological Observatory Bagrat Danelian said on September 30 that the Roshydromet plane that arrived on the peninsula made two flights to assess weather conditions, Interfax reports.
“We work with clouds, but not all of them are suitable, there must be certain parameters. I mean that the situation is extraordinary. The development of climatic conditions is clearly abnormal, there are very few suitable clouds,” he said.
Danelian noted that meteorologists have been observing clouds in Crimea since September 10, and only now have a small number of suitable clouds appeared. At the same time, it is not yet possible to evaluate the results of the output and an analysis is needed.
“A cloud can double the amount of precipitation, but there are not as many clouds of this type: 30-40%,” said the director of the center.
In total, the laboratory plane plans to fly between 25 and 35 hours in Crimea, but, according to Danelian, this is not enough to radically change the situation with low water levels.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, in the Russian-occupied Sevastopol at night they began to cut off the water supply due to a decrease in water reserves in the Chernorechensky reservoir.
