“It is time for Surkis to think about buying a monument to Lucescu”

Former Ukraine national team player Andrey Polunin shared his impressions of the second leg of the fourth qualifying round of the Champions League “Dynamo” – “Gent” (3: 0) and evaluated the chances of Kiev in the group round of the prestigious tournament.

“There were two different halves with Gent. I liked that the Dynamo entered the field, taking the result of the first game in Belgium out of my head. They were demure, determined, and achieved a tangible account advantage.

I didn’t like that after the break, considering that the ticket for the next round would not escape them, they drastically lost momentum, started to play imposingly, allowing “Gent” to dominate their penalty area. Fortunately, this time nothing happened, the guests failed to realize the scoring chances, but you can’t act like that, it’s unprofessional. The only advantage is that everyone was convinced that goalkeeper Georgy Buschan can be counted on.

Of course, in the Dynamo takeoff in the international arena, the great merit of its new coach Mircea Lucescu. He did not terrorize the club’s management with demands to buy new players, focusing on working with those who already had a contract and, unlike his predecessors, he achieved a significant result. And all because the Romanian specialist knows how to find an approach to the players, there are no authorities for him, his strength must be demonstrated only on the football field. So it’s no coincidence that yesterday’s Dynamo leaders don’t always have a place in the starting lineup. So it’s time for the Dynamo president (Igor Surkis – editor’s note) to think about buying a monument to Lucescu, made by order of the Shakhtar, that the Pitmen didn’t need.

What “shines” for the Dynamo in the group stage? Much will depend on the lot, although it is obvious that the rivals there will be stronger than AZ and “Gent”. First of all, it’s important not only to get stronger with 2-3 newcomers, but also to maintain the lineup that got the ticket. In particular, in no case should Vladislav Supryaga be sold now. In the person of Lucescu, he found his coach, with each game that adds up. Where is the guarantee that Vladislav will play in Bologna itself? The interests of the Ukrainian team are already being addressed, ”said Polunin.
