After defeating Gent 3: 0, the Dynamo achieved their first major victory in European competition under the leadership of Mircea Lucescu. For the Romanian coach, this victory became the twentieth in the international arena at the helm of the Ukrainian clubs. Thus, he repeated the record of the mentors of our teams 20 years ago, which belonged to Valery Lobanovsky.
Lucescu’s charges inflicted 13 defeats on his opponents in the Champions League and 7 in the Europa League (UEFA Cup). By the way, the high-scoring victory against the Buffaloes turned out to be a jubilee for the Dynamo as well, 20th in the Champions League (Cup). And also, already with 60 victories for Kiev in the same tournament at home.
