Civilians die in Nagorno-Karabakh
The representative of the United States in the organization warned the third forces not to interfere in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) held a special meeting of the Permanent Council in Vienna on Tuesday evening, September 29, to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The meeting was attended by representatives of 57 OSCE member states.
Opening the meeting, the President of the Permanent Council, Igli Hasani, reiterated his concern about the ongoing clashes and the deterioration of the situation on the contact line. He expressed concern about the growing number of victims and reiterated the OSCE’s call for an immediate reduction of the conflict.
The personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Nagorno-Karabakh, Andrzej Kasprzyk, briefed the meeting participants on the situation in the zone of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and noted that he receives information directly from the place and from local informants at most high level. Kasprzyk indicated that the OSCE is ready to send its representatives to the conflict zone and resume monitoring as soon as the situation allows.
The representatives of the co-chair countries of the Minsk Group – France, the Russian Federation and the United States – confirmed the call of the co-chairs to all parties to immediately cease hostilities and resume negotiations to find a way for a solution sustainable conflict.
The US representative to the OSCE, James Gilmore, warned the third forces against interference in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that it could only aggravate the situation in the region.
