21-25 years without the Champions League group stage for clubs, 11-13 – for countries. 2: 0 in the first game, then 2: 3 and 3: 3 at the end. That is a good result for “Ferencvaros” and lifts the spirits of “Molde” thanks to the comeback. Two decisions on penalties that infuriated the latter. Five defeats for the Norwegian champion in the last six league days, which forced him to put even more strength in the Champions League. I even support the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, with a video betting on Fradi. The battlefield was ready. An almost endless slimy battle. But in the end, the winner also stayed with him. Only one.
In the last three matches of the European Championship, “Ferencvaros” opened the scoring after eight minutes. Because “Molde” started out cautiously, forcing the opponent to do what he doesn’t like: possess the ball. He himself went out less often to the Dibus penalty area. And most importantly, both teams didn’t use a lot of pressure. Therefore, the game was extremely slow, boring and without dangerous moments. And the gradual increase in activity by the Norwegians created only the appearance of tension. And it didn’t work if the Hungarians wanted to get the opponent out of defense. Zubkov’s shots were calmly stopped by the goalkeeper and the defender. The expressions on Sergei Rebrov’s face explained it all.
In the second half, the pace increased slightly, both teams tried to attack. Blazhich had to block Khussain’s shot from the goalkeeper’s corner. The guests gave seven minutes of pressure with corners and punches. Then Uzuni approached Zubkov almost one on one, but passed the ball to Linda. In principle, Fradi acted correctly, alternating defense with perepasovka in the center of the field. And during another nervous seven-minute session, Dibus saved them after an excellent combination in the 76th minute. He kicked Hestad’s kick from Hussain’s point. Rebrov’s replacement calmed me down for a few minutes. And they helped to withstand the last assault without incident.
Judging from this match, neither team deserved to enter the group stage of the Champions League. However, it was no coincidence that the match was called final in both venues. And in the final, only one thing is important: the result. And the earlier “scalps” of Rebrov’s pupils make his achievement absolutely deserved. And one of the most important in the history of Hungarian club football in the post-communist era. Orban lost the bet, but his country’s football won.
