The overwhelming majority of voters in the Romanian village of Deveselu voted for former mayor Ion Aliman, who died of coronavirus ten days before local elections. This was announced on Monday, September 28, by the European edition Pravda.
Aliman was nominated for mayor of Deveselu for the third term of the Social Democratic Party. Earlier this month, he contracted the coronavirus and died on September 17 in a hospital in Bucharest.
Aliman had two rivals, but out of 1,600 registered voters in Deveselu, 1,020 voted for the deceased mayor.
Now the elections will be repeated, the functions of the mayor will continue to be performed by his deputy.
As previously reported, in India, the “deceased” went to the police two weeks after her funeral.
