EU ambassadors approve sanctions against Russia over the Kerch bridge

The ambassadors of the countries of the European Union agreed on the imposition of sanctions against Russia for the construction of the Kerch Bridge. The restrictions will be formalized this week.

“EU ambassadors approved sanctions against two people and four companies responsible for the construction of the Kerch bridge,” he said.

At the same time, the journalist did not mention against whom exactly the European sanctions would be introduced.

We recall, earlier, that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry welcomed the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia for the annexation of Crimea and said that it expects further restrictions in relation to the construction of a bridge to the occupied peninsula.

Furthermore, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kislitsa, has called for new sanctions for holding local “elections” in occupied Crimea.

The Kerch Bridge connects mainland Russia with occupied Crimea via Tuzla Island and Tuzla Spit. It consists of two parallel bridges: road and rail. The total length is 19 kilometers. The bridge was opened in 2018, rail traffic, in 2019-2020.
