Vyacheslav Zolochevsky, a cadet at the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University, is feeling well, communicating with doctors and relatives. He could be discharged from the hospital next week, said the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Aleksey Kucher.

The health condition of the sole survivor of the trainer An-26 plane crash, a third-year cadet from the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub Vyacheslav Zolochevsky, is improving. This was reported by “ArmyInform” with reference to the senior resident of the trauma department of the North Region Military Medical Clinic Center, Yuri Klapchuk.

Zolochevsky condition – moderate, with positive dynamics, closer to satisfactory, according to the report.

“The cadet feels well, communicates with doctors and family, and friends from the university will be able to visit him in the near future,” the hospital said.

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Administration Aleksey Kucher said on Telegram that the cadet is receiving the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

“I spoke with the head of the military hospital. In a week, the guy can be discharged from the hospital, after which he will undergo rehab for some time. He is a real fighter,” wrote Kucher.



The cadet’s father, Vitaly Zolochevsky, said his son had no fractures, “just bruises.”

The An-26Sh training plane crashed and caught fire 2 km from the Chuguev military airfield on the night of September 25. On board there were 27 people: seven military personnel (crew members and instructors) and 20 cadets from the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.

26 people died. Lives of the only surviving cadet Vyacheslav Zolochevsky there is no threat.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, a few minutes before the disaster the aircraft commander reported a left engine failure and requested a landing, however, for an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed on the side of the runway.
