Zelensky spoke about the TCG’s work in Donbass

The meeting discussed the problems that hinder the implementation of the agreements reached during the last meeting of the leaders of the Four Normandy countries in Paris.

During a working trip to the Donetsk region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the work of the Trilateral Contact Group at the Mayorskoe checkpoint. This was reported by the press service of the head of state on Saturday, September 26.

It is indicated that the meeting was attended by the head of the Office of the President Andrei Yermak, his deputy Roman Mashovets, the first undersecretary of the NSDC Ruslan Demchenko, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak, the Minister of Defense Andrei Taran , the head of the Main Directorate of the Intelligence Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Sixth Border State, Sergei Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andriy Plakhotnyuk, people’s deputy, deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Oleksandr Merezhko, other representatives of Ukraine in the TCG, as well as representatives of the OSCE SMM.

The meeting discussed the implementation of the agreements reached in Paris during the meeting of the leaders of the Four Normandy countries in December last year, as well as the problems that hinder the implementation of these agreements. It was noted that the regime of a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire is an unconditional success on the road to achieving peace in the Donbass, “the message says.

Zelensky said there is “loss minimization” in the Donbas.

“Today, the regime of silence has been preserved for 62 days. The OSCE SMM representative in Kramatorsk Edrino Milford noted that the monitoring mission has recorded far fewer violations since July 27, when the full and sustainable ceasefire regime began to operate.

“In the seven weeks after the start of the introduction of additional measures for a sustainable and comprehensive ceasefire, from July 27 to September 16, there were 1,052 cases of rape. For comparison, in the previous five weeks we recorded 18,027 violations, “said the OSCE spokeswoman. and added that during these two months of the silence regime, only one civilian wound was registered, on the first day of her action.

“The regime of silence has lasted two months. Despite individual and unintentional shootings, the regime is being watched. We have reason to believe that the ‘silence’ will continue,” Khomchak said.

During the meeting, they discussed the progress on the issue of the withdrawal of forces and mirror equipment in four agreed areas, as well as on the issue of demining of the Donbass territory.

The question of the possible opening of more checkpoints in Donbas was also discussed.

In order to speed up the negotiation process and achieve great results on all the issues mentioned above and the rapid implementation of the agreements by the leaders of the four Normandy countries, Ermak invited the TCG participants to meet more often.

“I would like to ask the representatives of the Trilateral Contact Group, despite the approaching winter, to start working every week. There is no point in delaying the negotiation process,” he said.

Earlier, Zelensky said that Ukraine is not going to blackmail in the Donbass negotiations and is doing everything possible to maintain a dialogue with Russia.
