Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina (No. 5 WTA) won the international series tournament in Strasbourg.
In the title match, the Ukrainian was stronger than Yelena Rybakina of Kazakhstan (No. 18 WTA).
Strasbourg. Final
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) – 6: 4, 1: 6, 6: 2
Elina played the final match in the best tradition of her performance during the tournament. Her performance was not very convincing, but the result was achieved.
In the first set, he proved to be a bit more stable and variable, but the quality of the tennis performed by both players was not at the highest level. Svitolina served well and only one break was enough to win.
The second game was dictated by Rybakina. He adapted to the final match, began to serve better and less, so the third set was inevitable.
In the final game, Elina had to play a triple breakpoint immediately, which brought her to her senses. In the fourth game, the Ukrainian imposed a serious fight on the serve of the representative of Kazakhstan, but Rybakina still got a point. But, apparently, this game took too much strength from Elena, further on the court it was practically not visible. Svitolina lost just one play in three games and went to serve for the match. It turned out that the first time, the final segment of the match was entirely for Ukraine’s first racket.
Note that this is the 15th title won by Svitolina at the WTA level; she lost only 3 finals in her career.
Last year, another Ukrainian woman, Dayana Yastremskaya, won the competition in Strasbourg.
