The moment of the AN-26 accident
A video surveillance camera recorded a sharp descent of the aircraft during the approach to landing, a detour to the right and a flash when it collided with the ground.
One of the surveillance cameras, installed in a high-rise building in Chuguev, captured the moment when the plane went down with the cadets. The corresponding video on Saturday, September 26, was posted by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Anton Gerashchenko, on his Facebook page.
“A video camera installed in one of the skyscrapers of the city of Chuguev filmed the last seconds of the tragically interrupted flight of the AN-26 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Gerashchenko wrote.
According to him, the video will be used to investigate the causes of the disaster.
“This video should help investigators and experts establish what happened after the ship’s commander announced the failure of the left engine and prepared to land on the right,” Gerashchenko emphasized.
He also published photographs of the cadets who died in the plane crash near Chuguev.
Previously, a video of the AN-26 crash site was also posted, in which a moving figure of a man engulfed in flames is visible in the motion of a burning aircraft.
Previously, the SBU shared the details of the AN-26 accident. There it was noted that at 8:38 p.m. the pilot informed the flight director about the failure of the left engine.
Later, Defense Minister Andrei Taran said there were no engine failures and that the plane crash was due to a technical failure.
