On the day of the accident, the aircraft completed five successful takeoffs and landings. Two hours after the start of the sixth flight, its engine failed.

The training flight of the An-26 plane, which crashed in the Kharkiv region, was supposed to last four hours, until 10:50 p.m., with only the crew commander in charge of the plane. This was announced on Saturday, September 26, reported the SBU press service.

“According to the available information, the training flights of the An-26 aircraft began at 18:50 and would continue until 22:50. The curriculum provided for the training of cadets in flight and navigation specialties according to the course combat training, “the message reads. …

According to preliminary information, the cadets did not directly control the aircraft; all flights were performed by the crew commander even after completing part of the route.

“After completing part of the route at 8:38 p.m., he informed the flight director about the failure of the left engine, at 8:40 p.m. he requested an approach, at 8:43 p.m. he passed a long-range trip, at 8:45 p.m. there was a plane crash”, the message says.

It is noted that in total there were 27 Ukrainians on board the aircraft, including 20 cadets from the Kharkiv Air Force University of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after Kozhedub and 7 crew members.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Andrei Taran said the crashed plane made five successful takeoffs and landings on the day of the accident, PavlovskyNEWS reports.

“The reasons for what happened to the plane, we still cannot say. We considered the problems of both the engine and the plane separately. Yesterday it made five successful takeoffs and landings, these were training flights. Everything went according to plan, and it did. what happened next – It’s not clear, “- said Taran.

He noted that rescue operations are ongoing. And there will be more detailed information after the “black boxes” decoding.

Taran also said that the relatives of the dead and wounded who had arrived were accommodated in a hotel in Kharkov.

It was previously reported that the body of another victim was found under the fuselage. The search for two more people continues. Nor has the “black box” been found yet.

We will recall, the military plane AN-26, on board of which there were 21 cadets of the Kharkov University of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and seven officers, crashed in the Kharkov region.
