For the European Union, the best way to support Ukraine is to help reform the state. This was stated by the EU’s head of diplomacy, Josep Borrell, after his visit to Kiev.

“The EU has supported Ukraine as a powerful and reliable partner in the field of economic integration, supporting the reform process and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The 2014 Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine is the most comprehensive agreement the EU has with any country. Since then, Ukraine has received € 14 billion from the European Union, which is an unprecedented level of support. Since 2007, the European Investment Bank has financed 43 projects in Ukraine worth 6.45 billion euros, “said the diplomat.

According to him, the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine is also working in the country together with the EU Advisory Mission. Its objective is to harmonize border control and customs procedures in accordance with the regulations in force in the EU member states.

“However, a lot of work needs to be done together to fully reap the benefits of cooperation under the Association Agreement and a deep and comprehensive free trade area. As I told the president (For Vladimir Zelensky, – ed.)The EU is not a charity or an ATM. The best way to support Ukraine is to help reform the country. But only Ukrainians can implement these reforms with their own hands. The best way to stabilize our neighborhood region is a stable, rich and democratic Ukraine, ”the diplomat emphasized.

We recall, previously, that the Vice-President of the European Commission, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, assured the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, that there were no threats to the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU.
