The state will register people using the Russian social network VKontakte, and if the distribution of banned Russian content continues, they will have to deal with the National Police.

As a UNIAN correspondent reports, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said this during an online conference “Digital transformation of the state: perspectives and risks of cybersecurity”.
“That is their (users – UNIAN) responsibility. The truth is that now the system that is starting to work will allow us to have information about those users who use this social network. All will be registered. If they continue to distribute Russian content in Ukraine, they will have problems with the National Police, ”he said.
In addition, Danilov said that the NSDC and other state bodies, together with international partners, plan to completely close access to VKontakte in Ukraine in the near future.
What preceded it
- In the spring of 2017, President Petro Poroshenko, by his decree, put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to block access in Ukraine to the resources of the Russian social networks VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Yandex, Mail.ru , as well as prohibiting the use of 1C accounting software.
- On May 15, 2020, current President Volodymyr Zelenskiy enforced the NSDC decision of May 14, 2020 “On the application, cancellation and modification of personal special economic measures and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”, which prolongs the ban on Russian social networks.
- The other day, representatives of the social network VKontakte announced that they had overcome the blockades in our country and resumed the work of the mobile application in Ukraine.
- According to the NSDC, the updated work of the proxy (an intermediary server that allows access to a specific page on the Internet) in the VKontakte mobile application aims to collect data on citizens of Ukraine and other people who use the application for special services Russians.
- On September 14, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, ordered to verify information about the possible avoidance of the blockade by VKontakte in Ukraine in relation to the disinformation problem that is spreading on this social network.
