Unpleasant changes for Ukraine took place in UEFA Odds Table after the Europa League 3rd qualifying round matches.
Two Ukrainian clubs had unsuccessful away games in Q3 and withdrew from European competition. “Desna” lost to German “Wolfsburg” (0: 2) and “Kolos” lost to Croatian “Rijeka” (0: 2 after extra time). True, both clubs brought the country 0.5 points each (in single-match matches, the 3-2-1 scoring scheme is in effect, furthermore, the achievements in the ranking are divided by 2).
In total, Ukraine has 9 points in the Euroseason (4 extra points from Shakhtar, 2.5 from Dynamo, 2 from Kolos, 0.5 from Desna), which when divided between the 5 participating teams gives 1,800 points.
After a bad Thursday in UEFA ranking for 5 years Ukraine has lost 12th place.
Scotland, looking back earlier, took and overlooked Thursday’s losers (albeit only by a microscopic 0.025 point). The gap with Turkey increased (from 0.300) to 0.700 points… The gap with Austria exceeded 2,000.
However, competitors also have losses. Turkey edged out Galatasaray even more, but Besiktash and Alaniyaspor withdrew. In Austria on Thursday only LASK played and made fun of Slovakia’s “Dunaiska Streda” team (7: 0). In Scotland, Celtic and Rangers are on fire, but Aberdeen and Motherwell can forget about European competitions for a whole year.
The 13th place in the classification will be presented only a command in the Champions League after one season (with a start from Q2 qualifying). Therefore, it is extremely important to make up lost positions.
We celebrate the departure of Russia’s second club: Rostov lost at home to Israeli Maccabi of Haifa. Among the top 5 giants, only France lost one team: Reims lost on penalties to the Hungarian Fehervar with Ivan Petriak.
Distribution of equipment and points (in the fight for 10-13 places in the ranking)
As a reminder, a federation finishing 11th (or less) will lose a direct ticket to the Champions League group round for its champion (except in the special case of a vacancy left for the previous season’s winner of the Champions League). Therefore, it is important to compete for the 10th qualifying line.
