Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina (No. 5 WTA) continues to win the international series tournament in Strasbourg.

In the quarterfinal match, the Ukrainian defeated Gilles Teichmann of Switzerland (No. 54 WTA).

Strasbourg. 1/4 final
Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – Gilles Teichmann (Switzerland) – 6: 4, 6: 3

The second match of the competition in Strasbourg was not the easiest either, but the victory was achieved more easily than in the previous round.

In the first set, it all started with a break from the Swiss, who had been in the lead for a long time, showing a good level of play. Elina managed to recover only in the sixth game, after which her lead until the end of the game was beyond question. Svitolina added at the right time, as she knows.

In the second set, more breaks were expected, the girls fought with varying success at the score of 3: 3. But then there was a denouement, during which the Ukrainian withdrew two long games and requested the match without problems.

Today they got a victory over a tennis player who feels great on clay and won two titles in the same category last year. This should add confidence to Elina before bigger games. In the evening we are waiting for the results of the Roland Garros draw, and then we can already develop a strategy for the next few weeks.

Please note that this was the first tennis player meeting.

In the next round, Svitolina will fight Katerina Sinyakova from the Czech Republic (No. 62 WTA) or Arina Sobolenko from Belarus (No. 12 WTA).
