Israel is introducing a full quarantine for two weeks from Friday, September 25, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on the night of September 23. The launch of his speech was published on the website of the country’s Ministry of Health.

“The second wave of coronavirus hit the world, it hit us too. The number of COVID-19 cases in Israel is growing, unfortunately, so is the death toll. If we don’t take immediate action, we will be in the abyss.” , He said.

According to him, the strict quarantine will last until the end of the Simchat Torah holiday on October 10. After that, there will be another two weeks of quarantine, but with fewer restrictions.

Netanyahu did not provide details on the full quarantine.

The ministry clarified that people will be allowed to leave the house no more than 1 km. Prayers and demonstrations will only be allowed outdoors. Up to 20 people can participate in them. Synagogues will also be closed, with the exception of Yom Kippur prayers on September 28.

According to the US Johns Hopkins University, there are 204,690 COVID-19 cases in Israel out of almost 9 million. 1,325 people died from COVID-19, around 145 thousand recovered.
