On Wednesday, September 23, at the Shirokiy Lan training ground in the Nikolaev region, the Javelin anti-tank missile system failed during United Efforts 2020 strategic personnel and command exercises.
Ukrinform writes about this with reference to the head of the Joint Operational Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of the Operational Command “Sever” Valery Zaluzhny.
“The javelin didn’t work, the rocket didn’t take off. Maybe it’s an operator error, maybe something else, we have to figure it out, I can’t say for sure now,” Zaluzhny said.
Note that the launch of Javelin missiles in Ukraine today was supposed to take place for the first time, and President Volodymyr Zelensky planned to observe the course of the exercises.
We also wrote that Javelin is designed to destroy armored vehicles, fortifications on the ground, as well as some flying objects that fly at low altitudes and speeds – helicopters or UAVs. For the first time, the first anti-tank systems of this type arrived in Ukraine in 2018.
