Ukrainian banks have increased their profits

For the second month in a row, the banking system has remained profitable after suffering losses in June.

The profit of Ukrainian banks in August 2020 amounted to 4.252 billion UAH. This is evidenced by the data from the National Bank on Wednesday, September 23.

Thus, the banking system remains profitable for the second consecutive month after losses received in June amounting to 5.174 billion UAH.

In January-August 2020, the profits of Ukrainian banks amounted to 32,641 million UAH, 26.3% less than a year earlier (44,294 million UAH).

At the same time, bank income from January to August 2020 amounted to 168,992 million UAH, while expenses amounted to 136,351 million UAH.

Since the beginning of 2020, banks have formed 20.403 billion UAH of reserves for possible losses, last year the reserves amounted to 7.980 billion UAH.

Recall that the most profitable and unprofitable banks of Ukraine were named above. At the end of the seven months of 2020, 58 out of 75 Ukrainian operating banks turned out to be profitable.

It was also reported that bank card fraud has become more prevalent in Ukraine. At the same time, the average amount of losses due to fraudulent operation in the first half of the year decreased from UAH 2,100 to UAH 1819.
