Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on September 14, said that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny could have taken the Novichok poison himself. He also spoke dismissively about the opponent.
The French newspaper Le Monde writes about this, citing sources.
The Russian president told Macron that Navalny allegedly used his Anti-Corruption Fund to “blackmail MPs and officials.” Putin also called Navalny “a simple Internet addict.”
According to the newspaper, Putin admitted that Navalny himself could have taken the poison and that the nerve agent is not as difficult to manufacture as is believed.
Macron, in turn, immediately rejected the version about Navalny’s attempt to poison himself, as the newspaper writes.
We will recall, Navalny lost consciousness on August 20 during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow. He was hospitalized. Russian doctors found no poison in the politician’s body and rejected the poisoning version.
Later he was transferred to the Berlin clinic “Charite”. Later, the German government officially announced that the politician had been poisoned with a substance from the Novichok group of poisons.
RBC-Ukraine also wrote that US President Donald Trump refused to discuss the Navalny poisoning issue.
We will remember, NATO requires Russia to conduct a transparent investigation into the Navalny poisoning.
