The Russian Federation is trying to expel the pro-Ukrainian population from the Crimean peninsula. During the annexation, tens or even hundreds of thousands of Russians were transported to the Crimea.
This was stated in an interview with “Crimea. Realities” of the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kislitsa.
According to him, the UN is aware of this problem.
“The latest resolution on Crimea contains a clause on the demographic changes in the population of Crimea. And this is a big problem … The prospect of eliminating the pro-Ukrainian population in Crimea is real. And this is what the country The occupying Crimea is fighting to drive out as many as possible, be they Crimean Tatars or another ethnic minority, “Kislitsa said.
According to the Russian-controlled Crimean statistics department, since 2014 the population of the peninsula has grown by 20 thousand people. At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that during the annexation, about 48 thousand people left Crimea.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine wrote that in June Kislitsa sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, in which he reported on the repressions of the Russian Federation against the residents of Crimea.
It was also reported that Ukraine at the UN condemned the violation of children’s rights in occupied Crimea.
