The head of the Servants of the People party, Aleksandr Kornienko, believes that there are no legal grounds to cancel or postpone local elections. Now, the central authorities are developing rules and recommendations on how to protect Ukrainians on election day.

This is stated in the RBC-Ukraine material “Viral campaign: Will the authorities solve the local elections?”.

According to him, all rumors about a possible cancellation or postponement of local elections are unfounded.

“The government and the Central Election Commission are actively working to adapt the voting to the epidemic situation. The CEC has also developed a special law, which will be introduced and adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the near future, before the elections. And we will work together to make the voting day so long safe for all citizens of Ukraine, “Kornienko told RBC-Ukraine.

We will recall, on September 10, the Kiev District Administrative Court opened a case for the cancellation of local elections.

Earlier, Kornienko reported that local elections may not be held only if a state of emergency is introduced in the country.
